About Genevieve
Genevieve Cooper is best known for her realistic watercolour paintings and use of bold, vibrant colours throughout her works. She has eclectic taste in subjects ranging from sea creatures to rainbow mandalas and paisley patterns.
Genevieve was born in 1994, in Perth, Australia, and was raised on the Swan River with her younger brother, Jared. She was homeschooled near Fremantle with her younger brother. During this time, Genevieve pursued her talents as an artist, and painted and sketched for several hours a day for most of her life. She was enrolled in a fine watercolours class of only a few students at Atwell Art gallery in Alfred Cove with Lori Neuzerling-Spencer as her teacher. Lori is a brilliant artist who taught Genevieve how to paint Australian plants and animals in high detail from a young age.
When Genevieve was in her early teens, she started exploring different techniques and subjects for her art. She attended drawing classes and begun taking an interest in painting people, and a new painting style that was less realistic, and more abstract.
During her studies at University (Bachelor of Arts, Mass Communication), doodling patterns on her class notes developed into her desire to create mandalas, and art through pattern drawing and colours. Inks and bright gouaches dominated her style for a time. View them here.
In more recent years, Genevieve has been inspired to take up oil's as a new medium, and she is currently learning and experimenting with landscapes and portraits.
